Members can show up and just ask you a question in your area of expertise - no prep required (ex: you’re a bookkeeper and you’re going to let folks show up and just ask a quick question about Quickbooks, share with them your lead magnet free mini course)
Attendees bring something for you to give them feedback on (ex: you’re a social media expert and you'll audit their Instagram bio and help them make it better, share with them your lead magnet on 100 ideas for easy reels)
Collaborate with other mentors and cross promote it so that you can all weigh in on a topic that you’d like to discuss - this would be great for hot topics or new features in platforms - or a fun way to look at how different people use different business tools (ex: a panel on how different folks are using private podcasts or trello or descript)
Invite members to come brainstorm with you (ex: you’re a website designer so people come and brainstorm the best headline for their homepage, invite them to join your email list to know about free workshops you offer each quarter - these would be hosted by you outside of The Playhouse)
Have a group come and share what they do and meet each other (ex: you’re a copywriter who wants to work with graphic designers, host a graphic designer mixer and see who shows up!) Invite them to get on your email list so you can keep in touch!
Present a very specific small amount of information and let the members do that thing (ex: you’re a VA so you talk about the kinds of things people could outsource then they work on making a list of the things they could outsource and you all share your answers and discuss, invite them to grab your freebie all about how to effectively onboard a VA when they’re ready.)
Still feeling nervous about hosting or you want some focused work time with friends? You could show up and hold space for people to work on the thing you’re an expert at. (ex. You’re an email marketing expert, so hold space for people to come write their weekly emails with you, share with them your lead magnet on how to write a great subject line!)

Spark DOES NOT include the ability to host events. Glow DOES give you the opportunity to host events. Everyone has access to the online community and is invited to all events. The online community and the events are where all members can soak up knowledge, make valuable connections, and become leaders in their niches. If you sign up for Spark, you can always upgrade to Glow if/when you're ready to host events.
As we build the community you can host as many as two events per week. This is subject to change but I think once a month or once a week will be the norm. We want to make sure that we’re creating a space that is collaborative and diverse. Signing up sooner than later gives you the opportunity to help shape the schedule and get your first choice of days and times.
Keep in mind, The Playhouse will be closed on the weekends, so all events will take place Monday - Friday ET.
Yes. AND… the ratio of conversation/value to selling should be at LEAST 90/10. You’ll have a QR code on your event background so it will be very easy to refer to that or drop a link in the chat. I can see someone hosting a Q&A about bookkeeping and then saying something like, “I have a free intro course on Quickbooks if you want to grab it.” or “I have a membership where you can ask me questions in our Facebook group whenever they pop up throughout the month.”
Those are natural suggestions and add value to someone struggling with their bookkeeping. The mission of The Playhouse is to build relationships and grow your email list, so you should absolutely be mentioning your offers, both free and paid. However, this is not a space to do a webinar style pitch that’s mostly you talking about your offer. You can absolutely invite them to sign up for your list and register for a webinar you’re hosting in your world.
But the events in The Playhouse are spaces for conversations, coworking, or collaboration. In order to maintain this, attendees will receive an opportunity to give feedback after your event. I’ll be monitoring that feedback to make sure all events are in line with the mission of the community.
The online community aspect will be hosted in a platform called Heartbeat. It’s much like Circle or Mighty Networks, essentially a Facebook Group off of Facebook. All the events will be created in Heartbeat and link directly to your event. Engaging in the Heartbeat community will increase your visibility and most likely improve the attendance at your events.
The events themselves will be hosted in a platform called Go Brunch.
It’s important to me as the founder that this space has a truly collective spirit about it. So everyone (Glow + Spark members) are encouraged to become affiliates for The Playhouse. Affiliates earn 40% recurring commissions on anyone you bring into The Playhouse as long as you are in the community.
A large, diverse group of members and mentors is what will make The Playhouse a success and I can't do it all by myself. The goal of this profit sharing model is to make The Playhouse feel like it belongs to all of us and we are all invested in growing our audiences together. We can do it! 💪
Here’s where it becomes a personal decision for you and your business. I priced The Playhouse to leave room in folks budgets to spend money with other people in the community.
Here’s a scenario I could see working well: You’re a social media expert with a membership that helps people grow on Instagram. Inside The Playhouse you host an event where you give quick feedback on people’s Instagram Bios. Then you let them know that you have a membership that includes all the awesomeness you host in there - maybe templates, training, regular Q&As with you, a slack channel to ask questions as they pop up.
If they loved meeting you in The Playhouse and you gave great feedback on their profile they’re thinking… “I definitely want to work with them more!” It’s like being on a podcast to get exposure for your membership except instead of chatting with a host - you’re getting to chat directly with your ideal customers which is kind of amazing if you think about it.
Let’s say you host paid networking events - why would you want to host a networking event in The Playhouse? Maybe you don’t - maybe you host an event where you give people a template on how to write their intro and they work on it with you. Then you invite them to your next event to try it out!?!
We just have to start thinking outside of the box on how getting in front of your people and actually hanging out with them can be a really powerful way to fast track relationship building!
The Playhouse isn't about making content, it's about having conversations.
That being said, none of the rooms will be recorded. You can bring any interesting topics or breakthroughs to the Heartbeat Community if you'd like to share it with the entire community.
And I can totally see conversations in The Playhouse being the inspiration for content you put out into the world.
Share the insights, the takeaways, the lightbulb moments with your audiences as well! Just not as a recording. 😬
The magic of The Playhouse is in the live conversations that happen in the different events. The idea is to be a participant, not a consumer of more information coming at you, so there will be no replays.
The ideas is that people will feel more at ease and natural in the conversations which will lead to more genuine connections.
We're hoping to have a ton of events from a diverse group of members, so making it to a few events a month should be totally doable!
Send an email to team[at]deannaseymour[dot]com and ask away! We're here for ya!
